Daydream & Shasun: Indian services on the European Pharmaceutical market

SHASUN (www.shasun.com), an Indian contract manufacturer for the pharmaceutical industry, has strong intellectual property and controls many leading technologies. Several services are proposed to clients (research workers at their disposal, Develop- ment and Synthesis knowledge and Contract manufacturing). With about fifty patents in its possession, SHASUN distinguishes itself from its competitors due to its exclusive industrial know-how and to its international culture: permanent presence and collaboration with Europe, United States and India.

Where SHASUN’s sites in the United States and United Kingdom inspire confidence to small emerging pharma, the Indian ones suffer from a general exotic image. Conscious of their clients’ preference for occidental sites to the detriment of the others, SHASUN decided to restructure its sales force into two parts:

  • An internal sales force dedicated to the sales of the occidental sites’ services,
  • An external sales force, DAYDREAM, favoring SHASUN’s know-how in India.

DAYDREAM’s team will target emergent pharmaceutical laboratories in Europe, in order to promote SHASUN’s industrial sites in India.

This assignment, initially fixed for six months, will enable SHASUN to differentiate itself from its local competitors thanks to its

reliable European sales know-how, but also to stand out from its posed in India.

NakanprèneTM for Automotive and Building

ARKEMA (www.arkema.fr), one of the worldwide leaders in terms of chemistry and materials, recently entrusted DAY- DREAM with the commercialization of its product ranges: NakanprèneTM.

NakanprèneTM is a thermoplastic elastomer developed by ARKEMA with ageing performances and mechanical proper- ties which should make it appropriate for several new appli- cations.

DAYDREAM’s team will be in charge of the commercial devel- opment of this technology, on two identified markets:

  • Automotive (dynamic gaskets for windows, Hub caps roofs, glass encapsulation, fuel lines, etc.),
  • Building (window gaskets).

These sectors will be heavily investigated: DAYDREAM’s Sales Team will try to accelerate the sales on these segments but also to target new applications for this technology. During this six-month assignment, the team will have to prospect opportunities in Europe (mainly in Germany, Italy, France, Spain and the United Kingdom).

Sulphuric Acid For Sale!

UMICORE (www.umicore.com), a specialist in precious met- als, also generates sulphuric acid, commercialization of which was previously handled by a sales partner. UMICORE recently decided to manage this sales activity on its own, and called on DAYDREAM to set up this project.

UMICORE already worked with DAYDREAM on several occa- sions within the context of projects on the catalysis market.

During this six-month assignment, DAYDREAM’s team will be in charge of prospecting the sulphuric acid markets already known by UMICORE, but also to find other potential applica- tions in order to diversify its customer base and to best en- hance this product.

The geographical zone being prospected includes Benelux, France, Germany and England.

OUR ON GOING PROJECTS
TOTAL FLUID : New Generation of “eco-lipids”

A worldwide energy group and leader in special fluids, TOTAL (www.total.com) is entering the personal care industry with a new generation of eco-lipids – emollients that combine exceptional safety and environmental results with high sensorial proper- ties.

TOTAL entrusted a two years-project to DAYDREAM so that the team could investigate the cosmetics market all over Europe. The objectives were to get the best performance positioning for the Gemseal range, compared to the currently broadly used conventional emollients: vegetal oils, silicones, esters and other mineral oils.

Through the project, DAYDREAM highlighted the ultra-sensorial feeling and the cosmetic properties of the Gemseal combined with highest purity and safety aspects. Due to the favorable customers’ feedbacks as well as the REACH implementation, new opportunities have been created and partnerships are on-going.

Following these developments, some products, formulated with Gemseal, are already successfully commercialized on the Euro- pean market. The next step of the project is the promotion of the Gemseal range in Asia. Thus, DAYDREAM’s team will be pre- sent at the In-Cosmetics exhibition in Asia (Singapore, 13th-15th October 2009) at the IMAGINE platform and at the In- Cosmetics in Paris as well (Paris, April 2010).

Nexans & Daydream energize Africa

The worldwide leader manufacturer of cables and energy distribution, NEXANS (www.nexans.com), recently developed a new offer dedicated to rural and urban electrical supply, by using a solution based on “ABC” cables (0.6 – 1 KV). This offer presented an extremely efficient and economical solu- tion for rural and urban electrification, which allows for en- ergy transfer to remote zones which are geographically iso- lated or difficult to reach at a competitive cost.

During a period of one year, NEXANS worked closely with the team of which has performed systematic prospection of the African continent targeting national power utilities, ministe- rial agencies for energy, and contractors, which are the prin- cipal decision makers for rural and urban electrification.

This intensive work enabled NEXANS to position its offer ad- vantageously to address major tenders in Africa and to pro- mote its solution (products and services), quality, and cost benefits.

This project, a real challenge for DAYDREAM’s team, who travelled through more than 15 African countries, in various and sometimes complex political and cultural contexts, en- abled the generation of an important pipeline of opportunities for NEXANS, participating in the African continent’s sustainable development.
