China has come to a development phase where environmental issues are increasingly taken into account, even if often balanced by the regional employment priority. An important part of the objectives of the 12th five year plan, are dedicated to the promotion of green technologies, new energies, and the reduction of pollutions and emissions of all kinds. As an example, in the field of particle and sulfur emissions for gasoline and diesels, many directives were taken in the last 10 years in order to cope with the lack of standards both on vehicle exhaust and fuels qualities. “Euro” standards were taken as guidelines, and China is rapidly filling the gap of emissions reduction.
Eurecat is a company from the Rhone Valley, world leader in refining catalyst regeneration services. Eurecat is part of the Albemarle group (which also supplies desulfurization catalysts for the oil refineries) and IFPEN, the French state-owned research institute for energies. Eurecat is largely present in all the main parts of the world and proposes a unique expertise for catalyst related services, products and technologies. Eurecat has been participating indirectly to the development of the catalyst off-site regeneration industry in China for about 20 years, and their specification is now the reference for SINOPEC and all the main refineries.
Daydream has supported Eurecat in evaluating the growth of gasoline and diesel use, the market for refining desulfurization catalysts, and the status and volumes of the whole regeneration industry. A key aspect answered was the evolution of the regeneration as a function of the announced and predicted new SINO 3, 4 and 5 fuel standards. The last important parameter studied was the different accesses to market that exist for Eurecat to reach this new fast growing territory.
